The newly restored Lower Orangery Garden at Hampton Court shows how tender and exotic plants were displayed at the palace in the late c17th, when Queen Mary II possessed the finest collection in England. The tubs, vases and containers were specially made for the garden, and are based on c17th prototypes. The Lower Orangery itself was built for William III between 1701 and 1702, and replaced three earlier glass cases erected for Queen Mary.
