A small garden for an artist's house in Kensington

A collaboration with Gumuchdjian Architects. Most of the interior of this modernist 1950s house has direct views over the new garden. The back garden is laid out on a slope, which rises as it retreats from the house, and opens at its lowest end into the kitchen – a large glazed space which Gumuchdjian describes as a ‘theatre for entertaining’. The planting palette reflects the French origins of the clients. The house and garden won an RIBA London award (2010) and the Stephen Lawrence Prize (2010).
